'Pick N Mix'
August 2006
Hailing from the hard-working Homegrown Music stable, this mix from Tom is the latest in his prolific output of downloadble hotmixes. This latest installment (July 06) is deliciously deep and bristling with sexy grooves that had us ahaking our hips good and proper. Check out the archive on their website for more from Tom and his musical co-horts

The quality of mixing has almost become a given in Readers mixes entries these days, and so its the tuneage we're really looking out for. As such, we could hardly go wrong with this selection of strobe bothering underground house. Tom's a whipper snapping 22 but his musical taste in the boompty has all the hallmarks of the much older Luke Solomon. He's a member of Cheshire's Homegrown Posse (whose Adam B has featured on these pages), a resident at Ascension in Manchester and his covering letter is virtually a list of competition successes. Ambition, talent, drive - just the ticket.

Smoketoke & Homegrown Headz Review
June 2005
Not too sure how clever it is to upstage the label boss but former I-DJ Raw Talent winners Adam and Tom have sure done that here. Not that 'Feets two deep electro house cuts aren't useful, it's just that the shimmering 3am tech funk of 'Smoketoke' and the appealing tribal-cum-Chicago of 'Homegrown Headz' would stand out in any crowd. 4/5

Smoketoke & Homegrown Headz Review - **House Single of the Month**
June 2005
Pete Dafeet's "Tube Groove", the lead track on this EP, is one of the finest tech-house tracks I have heard in some time. Bouncing along with a slightly jacking, yet still very techy beat, the bassline twists & turns keeping the vibe totally appealing & aimed squarely at the dancefloor. 'Hula Hula' adds some Latin cheekiness to proceedings, followed swiftly by the more minimal, yet still 100% dancefloor efforts from Adam, in the sleazy form of 'Smoketoke' & the bumpy house ride on Adam & Tom's 'Homegrown Headz'. Wicked stuff all round. 4/4

Smoketoke & Homegrown Headz Review
June 2005
No indication from Mr Dafeet here as to why this four tracker is limited, but it's worth asking around before it disappears. Why? Well, the two tracks from the main man are tight, economical grooves that could prove very useful. 'Hula' is particularly good - xylophonic percussion rolling on and on - although both might benefit from more melody or a stronger hook. Adam and Tom take the flip, meanwhile, with a chunky proggy number and a more interesting leftfield electro houser. Simple stuff but pretty sophisticated. 3.5/5

Smoketoke & Homegrown Headz Review
June 2005
Four tracks here, two from Pete Dafeet and two from Homegrown's Adam B & Tom Golden. Pete Dafeet kicks off with a jackin, driving, work out in "Tube groove". Snappy beats sit comfortably over an electronic bass line and bleepy effects. "Hula Hula" is a stripped back, hypnotic, xylophone-led work out. Adam's "Smoketoke" is another warm, hypnotic techy builder, with an engaging vocal loop and excellent arrangement. "Homegrown headz" ends a humorous feel with its simple arrangement and spoken vocals. 4/5
